Dear Marion Elementary Parents:
Thursday, May 14th, is our third “round” of instructional materials being sent home. Teachers will be taking shifts from 11 a.m - 6 p.m, to help distribute learning materials and chromebooks. We are hoping as many parents as possible can visit campus to pick up materials on Thursday. We are proud of our teachers for sending home the most meaningful and creative learning opportunities possible. Likewise, we have GREAT PARENTS...THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
After Thursday, if you still need to pick up materials, please email your child's teacher directly. Please explain how we can best serve you in terms of getting you the materials. Your options include: (1) setting up a pickup time and date to come to campus for pick-up, (2) indicating that you will pick materials up from one of our other four lunch distribution sites: (Redding Township Hall, Dighton Store, Middlebranch Township Hall, and Winterfield Township Hall - just tell us which one, please). If this is not possible, please let us know, and we can (3) arrange for a bus to deliver things to your driveway. Again, please let us know the address and the days you need delivery. Here is a link to staff email: https://www.marion.k12.mi.us/o/mps/staff. If you require immediate help, please email dsalis@marion.mi.k12.us or carrington@marion.k12.mi.us. The main district line is (231) 743-2486 extension 1.
We miss our kiddos! We hope you and your loved ones are safe and well!
Dear Marion Jr./Sr. High School Parents:
Our school plan is to send the third “supply” of schoolwork on May 14, 2020. This will include internet and virtual learning opportunities as well as traditional paper & pencil forms. Teachers will send instructional resources again on May 28th. Parents can pick up traditional paper and pencil work at any of our lunch distribution centers (on May 14th from 11:30-1:00 ), or by making other arrangements.
Completed work can be shared with teachers electronically (Google Classroom, email, etc) or can be returned to a lunch drop off station submitted to a bus driver.
After Thursday, if your student currently attends Marion Jr./Sr. High School, please email your child's teacher directly with class specific questions. Here is a link to staff email: https://www.marion.k12.mi.us/o/mps/staff. If you require immediate help, please email lkulhawick@marion.k12.mi.us, or dprielipp@marion.k12.mi.us. The MS/HS Phone number is (231) 743-2846 extension 2.
We hope you and your loved ones are safe and well.

Ladies and Gentlemen:
The staff here desperately wants life to get back to normal for many reasons, but since we are human, we must admit we have selfish reasons, too. We LOVE AND MISS OUR STUDENTS!
At the end of this message will be a video shared by some of our educator friends. Please take three minutes of your time to check it out, you wont be sorry!
We at MPS realize if you can watch the video, you obviously have internet access. Not everyone does. We know that many educational opportunities are best served in "hard copy" form. Unfortunately, others could be boosted by methods that require our students (& Parents) having access to high speed internet. We realize about half of our student's have access to quality internet. Our district can't "fix everything" for folks, but we are trying to help. Here's how:
We are writing grants to help us finance the purchase of 6 commercial grade "Mifi" boxes from Verizon. These boxes can handle up to 18 simultaneous high speed connections before they slow down for the user.
By early next week, these boxes will be configured and installed at the following locations: 1. Marion Elementary
2. Marion HS
3. Winterfield township
4. Middle Branch Hall
5. Middle Branch gas station
6. Redding Hall
7. Dighton Store
8. Highland Township Hall
9. Pisgah Church
Users would have to be in the parking lots of the locations to connect. They will be left on 24 hours a day. We know this doesn't "fix the internet problem" but we are proud to work hard to make things better for our kids and families. We hope the connections are used frequently.
Here's the video. Please let your friends and families know about the Mifi boxes so they can watch the video early next week!
Here's the video as promised: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7qJvxXdaOps&feature=youtu.be#dialog
