Special attention Marion Elementary parents. There will be planned road closures for Thursday afternoon during pick up, as well as Friday for drop off and pick up. Main St will be closed from Pine St to Clark St. What does this mean for parents? Please see below for drop off and pick up changes for students at regularly scheduled pick up and drop off time. Thursday 9/12 Parents coming from the West of the elementary school will need to use the detour going North onto N Case St, then East onto Wing St, turn South onto Lake Shore Drive, followed by turning West onto Water St. Follow Water St into the parking lot behind the elementary school. Please utilize the photo below for the flow of traffic and safety of students. Parents coming from the East of the elementary school will be able to turn west onto Water St from M66. Follow Water St into the parking lot that buses are normally parked in. Please utilize the photo below for the flow of traffic and safety of students. Transportation has asked that parents do not line up on Water St until approximately 2:40pm to allow for all of the buses to get out of the parking lot before traffic starts coming in. The parking lot in the front of the school that is normally used for pick up/drop off will be used for BUSES ONLY. Friday 9/13 Parents will need to drop off their students and pick up their students at the north parking lot (where buses normally park) utilizing the detours. Again the parking lot in the front of the school will be used for BUSES ONLY.

It has been brought to our attention there are some alarming posts on social media for Marion County High School. This matter has been investigated and that school, in a different state, was closed on 9/9/2024. This school should not be confused with Marion Public Schools in Osceola County. Thank you to everyone who has reached out to report this matter. Again, this reported tip is NOT for Marion Public Schools.

Mrs. Jones’ class has been learning about communities. The students, in groups, plan and design their own communities that will specialize in a certain product. The class will later on do some trading amongst each other’s cities and create laws that their cities have to follow!

The weather may be gloomy and chilly now, but sixth grade science classes of Mr. Seiter and Mrs. Deighton took advantage of the sunshine earlier this week to get out and use observation skills in a scavenger hunt for water. This activity kicks off their first big science unit. Congratulations to the winning pairs of Karter C. and Brady M. for first place and to Lucas E. and Lucy P. with RaeLynn E. B. and Emmalynn K. who were tied for 2nd.

Ms. Russell’s third grade got to experience the hatching of a monarch butterfly before their eyes. With the help of some watchful students they watched as the chrysalis became clearer and finally hatch. The third graders will be experiencing the entire butterfly life cycle as there are a few caterpillars still in the early stages.
